Loxley Bank. Sector: Domestic. Private client. This house is testament to the ambition of the client. It sits on the 12 acre site of the former Pinegrove Country Club and posed some unusual challenges. It is on a former dump site and in the green belt. The client required their home to be as environmentally friendly as possible. It has a timber structure (finished in stone to conform with planning requirements) and is heated by a log batch boiler running on wood harvested on site as part of a Woodland Management scheme by Wildscapes. The construction is to Passivhaus standards and includes rainwater harvesting, solar PVs and solar thermal panels. The client is currently chasing funding for a micro-hydro scheme as the site has about 400 metres of the River Loxley along its Northern edge.
